Nationally Syndicated Talk Radio Host Joe Madison Highlights Perils of Deadly Bacteria Found on Wood Pallets During Interview with iGPS Chairman
ORLANDO, FL, Oct. 23, 2009 – Nationally syndicated talk radio host Joe Madison interviewed iGPS Chairman and CEO Bob Moore to discuss results of the company's limited random testing of wood pallets, in which more than one-third of the pallets tested positive for one or more of Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria and extremely high bacteria counts. Joe Madison's talk radio program airs nationwide every morning to millions of listeners on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio channel 169, and WOL-AM in Washington, D.C. During his interview, Moore explained the test results that revealed deadly levels of bacteria found on a random sample of wood pallets in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area. Moore also shared his perspective about what these results mean to our nation's food supply. The test was commissioned by iGPS, operator of the world's first pallet rental service providing shippers and receivers with all-plastic pallets with embedded RFID tags.
"Wood pallets pose risks to our food supplies, our environment and our society. It is critical these risks be understood and that our government take the necessary actions to protect public health and safety," said Moore. "We appreciate Joe Madison's interest in this very important topic and are grateful for the opportunity to discuss food safety with his callers and millions of listeners across the country," Moore added.
The issue of wood pallet safety is particularly relevant, as Congress again this week held another hearing on new legislation that would require the FDA to create a better system for tracing food in the wake of several high-profile recalls of contaminated food in recent years.
